Callum McGregor and Greg Taylor have been left out of the Scotland side to face Austria tonight.

With the hosts knocked out of the World Cup by Wales last week and their manager Franco Foda resigning, tonight even by international standards tonight’s match is especially pointless.

Despite suffering two spells out through injury McGregor has played in 51 matches already this season with Celtic facing a critical month starting at Ibrox on Sunday.

There seems to be no news of any fresh injuries for Celtic players on international duty but that will only be confirmed when the players report to Lennoxtown on Thursday and Friday.

Ange Postecoglou has had a small core of first team players to work with but it won’t be until Friday and Saturday that he can ink in the names to go onto Sunday’s team-sheet.

The highest profile match of the day is in Poland who host Sweden in a play-off for a place in Qatar but Carl Starfelt has, as expected been named among the substitutes.
