Ibrox fans running onto the pitch will be hit with bans but throwing missiles and singing anti-Catholic songs will get the usual treatment.

Over the last month there has been a marked rise in the songs of hate from supporters I domestic matches in the safe knowledge that unlike UEFA games there will be no punishment for the club.

In their last match, away to Dundee, the match was stopped three times due to tennis balls and toilet rolls being thrown on the pitch. There has been no comment from the SFA or SPFL.

It seems that pitch invasions seem to be the biggest worry for Ibrox chiefs with The Sun reporting:

RANGERS are set to hand out bans to fans who invade the pitch.

SunSport understands Ibrox chiefs plan to hammer supporters who enter the field of play after a spate of recent incidents.

The club have become frustrated at a number of flashpoints – including in Saturday’s legends game – with children going onto the park.

Groups of youngsters charged onto the field at the end as they looked to get strips and selfies with club legends including current gaffer Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Uefa hit the Light Blues with a £4,168 fine earlier this month after youngsters also made their way onto the park in the 2-2 draw with German giants Borussia Dortmund last month.

The club warned fans against going onto the pitch earlier this month, branding the behaviour ‘unacceptable’, with parents told they would face disciplinary action.

There was much more than just kids on the pitch on Saturday, re-employing the elite stewards used to guard goal-posts from Leigh Griffiths might prove to be more of a deterrent.
