In a bygone age the BBC was held up as a benchmark for standards.

Spelling and grammar were always dead good, crucially, facts were 100% everything was at least double checked before surfacing with the state broadcaster.

They even had a Pronunciation department to ensure radio and television reporting was accurate, when Bejing was Peking, when Keev was known as Kiev. There would be the odd slip up when an English newsreader had to mention Milngavie, or Tannadeechy (Tanadice) but over the piece they got things spot on.

Scotland, and sport in particular seems to be viewed very differently. It seems that the facts can be interpreted in different ways to suit certain circumstances.

At various stages since February 2012 BBC Scotland has covered aspects of the administration and liquidation of Rangers, for back up it was often on the front pages of newspapers.

Staying on-message BBC Scotland Sport decided to dump all that stuff and claim that the club that died in 2012 is actually alive and well, celebrating their 150th anniversary this year!

Last month the BBC had to apologise to Celtic over a crass tweet from their chief sports writer in Scotland, Tom English, known affectionately as House Paddy within the corporation.

Growing up in the North of Ireland, I saw their lies regularly on their evening news. Things I witnessed with my own eyes they blatantly lied about. No surprise they are still at it.

I am 66 and remember my grandfather, WWI veteran and coalminer picking up on something in the news. ” “It never happened that way, why they twist it”.
Where a regular retort on the BBC
