Open Goal, fronted by former Celts Si Ferry and Paul Slane, are reported to be in talks to take over Broomhill Sports Club, known as BSC and playing in the Lowland League.

Although named after the area of Glasgow that the club originates from they play their home matches on Alloa’s plastic pitch and are currently sitting in 14th place in the 18 team Lowland League. Only the University sides of Stirling and Edinburgh plus Vale of Leithen and Gretna 2008 are below BSC.

Bonnyrigg Rose are heading for the Play-Offs for a place in next season’s League Two but according to a story from Stephen McGowan of the Daily Mail BSC could be in line for a serious change in direction:

Podcasters Open Goal have opened talks with Scottish lower league side BSC Glasgow over a shock takeover.

Fronted by former Celtic and Dundee attacker Si Ferry, sidekick Paul Slane and former Scotland striker Kevin Kyle, Open Goal has established a significant internet presence. Interviewing big names from the world of Scottish football, only Celtic and Rangers secure bigger numbers online.

And, after hosting a number of sell-out shows at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Ferry is now the frontrunner to take up his first role in management if talks over a buy out reach a successful conclusion.

Paul Lawwell, son of former Celtic CEO Peter, is a director of Open Goal Media.
