Celtic’s B team enjoyed a comfortable 5-0 win over Partick Thistle in the Glasgow Cup this afternoon.
The competition has long since lost any relevance but with no formal reserve football it does offer players a chance of getting some competitive minutes in their boots.
That was certainly the case today with Johnny Kenny, Karamoko Dembele, Mikey Johnston and Joey Dawson on the scoresheet.
For Kenny it was a special moment, netting after 31 minutes of his Celtic debut following his January transfer from Sligo Rovers, netting from close range after the Thistle keeper parried a cross from Karamoko.
Possibly of more immediate relevance to Ange Postecoglou were the goals of Johnston and Karamoko. Neither are likely to be forcing their way into the starting XI but at this stage of the season having goals on the bench is a very useful option
