Ange Postecoglou has sent out his first summer transfer message, looking to add quality to his squad for next season.

Faced with the biggest turnover of players that Celtic has ever seen the hoops boss delivered with a very impressive strike rate last summer.

James McCarthy and Liam Scales have struggled to make an impact but everyone else has made a contribution to the current position. Project signings Liam Shaw and Osaze Urhoghide are unlikely to have been on Postecoglou’s radar.

Almost as soon as the summer window closed the Celtic boss was setting up his plans for January- on December 31 three J-League signings were announced with Matt O’Riley signed in time to make an impact during January.

After the wholesale overhaul of the squad Postecoglou can now be very selective, speaking about the summer window he told the Daily Record:

There are still a few areas we need to look at. We’re still rebuilding the squad and I want us to be stronger next year in terms of quality in the squad. We’re in a better place than we were 12 months ago but we still have to strengthen and that’s what we’ll do.

Almost of equal importance will be clearing out the waste accumulated by Peter Lawwell and Neil Lennon. Vasilis Barkas, Albian Ajeti, Boli Bolingoli and Ismaila Soro have made virtually no contribution but remain under contract until at least June 2023.
