Ange Postecoglou has provided an update on Liam Scales.

The Irishman made 10 appearances, starting and coming off the bench, between December 5 and February 24 but hasn’t been seen since the 2-0 defeat away to Bodo Glimt.

Last week at Hampden Ange Postecoglou was able to list nine substitutes but despite that increase there was no place for Scales or any left-back.

Chris Jullien and Stephen Welsh were available for central defence, James Forrest and Mikey Johnston on the wings with three midfielders. When Greg Taylor was injured Josip Juranovic had been replaced earlier forcing Tony Ralston to play the extra-time period at left-back.

Explaining the absence of Scales, Postecoglou told the Daily Record:

Liam is fine, he’s training well. But sometimes in terms of team balance, he hasn’t made the bench but he’s available and training well.

With Juranovic out injured for the next few weeks Scales will be hoping for a place on the bench today at Ross County.

In the opening round of fixtures Boli Bolingoli and Adam Montgomery played at left-back but over the last few months Greg Taylor has made the position his own.

According to the transfer of players, Ange is bringing in players that are able to compliment each other. I don’t get the theory that he doesn’t fit in to certain scenarios
