It would be difficult to find a better week this season than the one that Celtic fans have just enjoyed.

At Ibrox last Sunday the team dug in, shut down space and put their bodies on the line to capitalise on the first half goals of Tom Rogic and Cameron Carter-Vickers to deliver a significant victory.

On Saturday it was back to the champagne football, more than 20 passes being strung together to leave St Johnstone chasing shadows or in the case of goal number six Matt O’Riley netted after 40 plus passes starting with Greg Taylor deep in his own penalty box.

But there was an added bonus on Saturday, in the 74th minute a striker came off the bench to add his distinctive personality and style to the performance.

More than three months have passed since Kyogo Furuhashipulled up injured against St Johnstone inside a near empty stadium. On Saturday fans and team-mates were delighted to see him back in action against the same opponents, speaking to the Daily Record Josip Juranovic summed the day up in three words:

Kyogo is back.

He is a great person and you can see everyone loves him here. He is an amazing player and he could be so important for us for the rest of the season.

I don’t want to put pressure on him but we know he, like every player, will give everything for the club. If we do that then we will be successful.

We are going game by game and we are only thinking about the three points. The most important thing is the next game.

We were sixth in the table at one point this season but now we are first and we want to stay there.

Was it an emphatic performance against St Johnstone? Yes. Now we have to continue like that for the rest of the season.

Kyogo can now enjoy a full week of training ahead of Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi-final, he certainly left an impact on Celtic’s last Hampden appearance.
