Kyogo Furuhashi has confirmed his availability for Sunday’s Glasgow derby by sharing a training ground image on Instagram.

It has been more than three months since the striker cut a disconsolate figure, limping out of the 3-1 win away to St Johnstone with only 500 fans inside McDiarmid Park.

At that moment Celtic’s hopes of winning the SPFL title looked bleak. Trailing by six points Ange Postecoglou turned to Joey Dawson with Kyogo, Giorgos Giakoumakis and Albian Ajet all out injured. Things looked grim.

In Kyogo’s absence Giakoumakis has risen to the challenge with a key supporting role from Daizen Maeda, one of three J-League signings in January that have yet to play alongside the former Vissel Kobe striker.

It seems very unlikely that Kyogo will play from the start at Ibrox but a role coming off the bench is a possibility. With the April fixture list having a huge bearing on how the major honours are decided Celtic fans will be hoping that their Japanese striker has the same impact as he did on the League Cup.
