More than two days after one of his employees required stitches to a head wound caused by a lout throwing a glass bottle Michael Nicholson has yet to utter a word on the incident.

It wasn’t a one off, as he watched from his seat in the Directors Box at Ibrox the Celtic CEO would have noticed that the start of the second half was delayed for five minutes as Joe Hart pleaded with ground staff to remove broken glass from his place of work. How the broken glass appeared on the pitch remains a secret.

Taking a corner kick in the second half Jota had a missile/glass/bottle thrown at him. At the final whistle five Celtic players had to get out the way of another missile thrown from the Ibrox fans. The 700 visiting fans also had a variety of objects thrown at them.

Despite that catalogue of incidents and carrying a Duty of Care the Celtic CEO hasn’t uttered a word about Sunday’s events, much like his predecessor.

In February Nicholson signed up to export the Glasgow derby to Australia, fortunately the good folk of Sydney will now be denied that very dubious pleasure.

It seems that a vow of silence has been thrown over Sunday’s incidents. Celtic have said nothing, the Ibrox SLO has issued a tweet about glass in the penalty box and Neil Doncaster has given a typically bland, non-committal interview about strict liability.

Sunday’s incidents won’t come as any surprise to a switched on CEO.

In April 2017 Peter Lawwell watched Scott Sinclair being subjected to racist abuse, Scott Brown confronted on the pitch by a fan wandering out of the Sandy Jardine Stand and objects including a full-sized battery thrown at Celtic players. Security arrangements don’t seem to have improved.

With his cherished O** F*** restored after a four year break the former Celtic CEO let those incidents pass by without comment or action.

Maybe he didn’t care, maybe he thought it was a one-off and things would scale back to an acceptable level of poison.

Nicholson has no excuses. He has watched Sunday’s events brewing over the last six years, his silence encourages it.

What level of attack on an employee will it require for the Celtic CEO to speak out against the business partners who ditched him on route to Sydney?

Our shambles of a Board will only say something when one of them is assaulted in the Directors Box hut at the rate things are escalating over there hhen that will probably happen next season.
He’ll mend them if it does happen to one of them.

I cannot believe that the board agreed to except a small amount of tickets for the game at Ibrox .Now we have to accept the hoards back to Celtic Park, along with the damage they will cause. We also gave what could have been our home match advantage thank god we managed to win. Do we have any forward thinkers on the board .
