Don Robertson will referee Celtic for the sixth time this season when he takes charge of Saturday’s match against Hearts. For good measure and extra preparation Robertson was the fourth official at Sunday’s Glasgow derby.

Ange Postecoglou has certainly kept his powder dry when it comes to match officials but after the injury to Yosuke Ideguchi at Alloa the Celtic boss was forced to speak out.

He told the Daily Record:

It was a terrible tackle and one which should have been addressed by the referee on the day.

He hasn’t come out of it too well and will be missing for a little bit as well. He’s still pretty painful now. The kind of character he is, for him to stay down and come off I knew it was significant.

I was optimistic it wasn’t too bad but as everyone can see from the footage it was a tackle that shouldn’t have happened and should have been addressed by the referee on the day.

Following the match the SFA upgraded the yellow card to a red for Mouhamed Niang which was of little benefit to Ideguchi or any of the Celtic players that picked up knocks during that Scottish Cup tie.

The previous month the SFA upgraded a yellow card for Calum Butcher of Dundee United for a foul on David Turnbull to a red.

In his last Celtic match, at home to Ross County in March, Kayne Ramsey was shown a straight red card in the 28th minute having escaped punishment moments earlier for a brutal challenge on Daizen Maeda.

Tom Rogic had to be substituted after Ramsey’s red card offence.

Here’s hoping Robertson doesn’t get himself in a jam making those decisions.
