Brody Patterson has confirmed that he is leaving Celtic this summer.

The 21-year-old is currently on loan at Airdrie, making 12 appearances for the League One side who are involved in the Championship play-off against Montrose.

Last season Patterson spent time on loan at Queens Park but like many in the Academy set up the bridge to first team football has proved impossible to cross.

Speaking to the Daily Record he revealed:

My contract is up with Celtic in the summer and I will be leaving. I am looking forward to a new challenge, one I can learn from and can give me a platform to take my career forward.

I have high hopes and expectations of myself and I want to go to a good, ambitious club that will allow me to do well and I can also help the team progress.

I have had a good education at Celtic coming through the ranks and playing for the B team earlier this season and these loans have now given me a good foundation.

Hopefully, I can have another few games in the play-offs with Airdrie to build on what we have done as a team this season. If we could win promotion it would be the perfect way to end the season

After his spell at Hampden last season Patterson was a regular in the Celtic B team, playing mostly at left-back plus a few appearances in central defence.

Celtic will take part in the Lowland League again next season but a second season at the same level is unlikely to push on the development of players coming out of the Academy.

Going out on loan to a Championship team would seem to be the logical step for the better teenage players but getting the right loan move is a difficult task to complete.
