Jota is expected to remain at Celtic next season according to Portuguese publisher Jornal de Noticias.

The winger has had some ups and downs at Celtic but made a telling contribution as Ange Postecoglou’s side closes in on winning the SPFL Premiership title.

So far Jota has scored nine goals in the SPFL from 23 starts and three substitute appearances.

That contribution has been priceless, on the opposite flank Liel Abada has 10 goals from 21 starts and 11 appearances off the bench.

A fee of around £6m would be required to sign Jota on a permanent deal with personal terms to be agreed with the 22-year-old who spent last season out on loan at Real Valladolid where he started just seven matches alongside 10 appearances as a substitute.

Covering players out on loan, Portuguese publisher JN reports:

From the range of athletes assigned, it is already known that two elements, Jota and Florentino, will have different destinations. The winger, true star of Celtic, should stay at the Scottish club which, as far as we know, will exercise the purchase clause agreed upon on loan, valued at 7.5 million euros, and has already informed the eagles of the decision.

Eagles is the nick-name of Benfica.

Ange Postecoglou gives the impression of wanting deals completed early, if the Jota deal is to become permanent it is likely to be completed next month. If there are complications other targets are likely to be looked at as the Australian moves into his second pre-season turning the club around.
