Kyogo Furujashi has been reflecting on the incredible turnaround in his career over the last 12 months.
Now a hero in Glasgow with Champions League and World Cup football to look forward to later this year the striker is back in Japan preparing for a couple of international friendlies.
Last July Ange Postecoglou put his trust in the Vissel Kobe striker to supply the goals required with Odsonne Edouard on his way out.
A hat-trick on his Celtic Park debut set a very high-bench mark but in Celtic’s final match of the season Kyogo scored twice against Motherwell to give fans plenty to contemplate for next season.
Settled into a new continent with the benefit of pre-season training with his new team-mates there is lots for Kyogo to look forward to- and reflect back on.
Speaking to Japanese site Soccer King the striker said:
It’s been a fun year. It seemed like a long time, and it ended in a blink of an eye, so it was very fulfilling, but I think there are still many challenges.
I realised that I still have to grow. As I played the game, I felt that my strengths were being applied.
The reason I scored goals is because many players are connecting to the front of the goal. I’m just getting a pass and scoring a goal in a position where I can decide, so I’m grateful for the support of those around me
Japan have friendlies coming up against Paraguay and Brazil before two matches at the Kirrin Cup.
