Cameron Carter-Vickers has been named in a 27 man USA squad for four international friendlies next month.

The defender hasn’t played at international level since 2019 but his form at Celtic has earned him a timely recall with the World Cup Finals starting in November.

Carter-Vickers joined Celtic on the final day of the summer transfer window with a season long loan agreed with Spurs. That agreement was believed to contain an option to buy but terms still need to be agreed with the player before that clause can be activated.

After going on a variety of loans it seems very obvious that Carter-Vickers doesn’t feature in Tottenham’s future plans but his Celtic form will have alerted other clubs about his availability.

Settling into a club with Champions League football ahead of the World Cup Finals would seem like an attractive option but a week after the season ended Celtic fans look like having to wait for news on whether the 24-year-old will be back in Glasgow next season.
