Tom Rogic made a late night visit to Instagram, posting 10 images covering some of the highlights of his Celtic career.
Wearing an all green New Balance kit there was the last minute winner away to Kilmarnock under Ronny Deila, another winner at Fir Park early in the Invincible season as well as the Hampden and Ibrox highlights that have delivered the goods and ensured his hero status among the fans.
Rogic is an infrequent user of Instagram, last night’s flood of posts from down the years may be a nostalgic reflection although some fans will be concerned that it could be the end of a nine and a half year journey.
Team-mates Steven Welsh, David Turnbull and Josip Juranovic were quick to respond to the midnight message.
In May 2018 Celtic announced that Rogic had signed a contract to keep him at Celtic ‘until at least the summer of 2023’ but recently it seems that the club holds an option on the last 12 month of contract renewals.
On Monday the Daily Record claimed that Celtic hadn’t taken up the 12 month option on Nir Bitton’s contract.
Under Ange Postecoglou Rogic has been an important but not quite essential part of the first team. Over the last three matches- the Glasgow Derby, Hearts and Dundee United the Australian has started on the bench with Matt O’Riley preferred in midfield.
With Yosuke Ideguchi, Reo Hatate and even James McCarthy signed under Postecoglou Celtic are well covered with midfield options.
Whether it was an innocent Instagram post or a cryptic message remains to be seen with Ange Postecoglou making his last media commitments over the next two days.
