Three clubs are interested in taking Chris Jullien according to a report in The Sun.

Last year David Friel broke the news that Neil Lennon was resigning as Celtic boss with the former Celtic View reporter having a strong record on Celtic transfers.

Since suffering a knee injury at the end of 2020 Jullien has only played 15 minutes of first team football with Ange Postecoglou unwavering in his support for Carl Starfelt and Cameron Carter-Vickers.

With the USA internationalist joining Celtic on a permanent basis earlier this month there is little prospect of Jullien making a first team return in the final year of his contract.

Tonight, after his briefly posted then deleted Instagram post, The Sun reports:

FRENCH and German clubs are ready to move for unsettled Celtic stopper Christopher Jullien.

SunSport understands Bundesliga side Schalke and Ligue 1 duo Rennes and Lorient are all tracking the defender.

Jullien, 29, looks to be on the way out of Parkhead as he enters the final year of his deal.

The injury-plagued stopper returned to training this week but could leave as interest mounts.

German outfit Schalke have just been promoted and boss Frank Kramer wants new faces.

A host of French Ligue 1 clubs are also believed to be monitoring the centre-half, who joined the champions for £7million from Toulouse three years ago. Rennes and Lorient are among them with French sources claiming a bid of £1.5m could be made.

Celtic paid £7m for Jullien in 2019, with a year left to run on his contract and doubts over his fitness an offer of £1.5m for the defender looks like decent value.

Postecoglou still has Stephen Welsh to call on but if Jullien leaves signing up another central defender is likely to be a priority with the untried duo of Osaze Urhoghide and Bosan Lawal next in line after Welsh.
