Daily Record Transfer Bingo switches to Turkish and Italian clubs in Barisic chase

With no sign of any club putting in a bid for Calvin Bassey the Daily Record is attempting to drum up interest in Borna Barisic. 

The Croatian has been through the routine a few times in the past as interest is talked up only to find out that he is still at Ibrox when the transfer window closes. 

Barisic has previously been linked with Roma but in today’s tale the Record is only touching on ‘interest from Italy’ while going big on Trabzonspor. 

The Turkish champions are ready to ‘step up their bid’ but a look at the first 45 minutes of the February Glasgow derby might result on an about-turn. A character reference from Callum McGregor is unlikely. 

With today’s good news for their army of readers, the Record reports: 

Trabzonspor are set to step up their bid to land Borna Barisic ahead of their crack at the Champions League. 

But Record Sport understands there is also interest from Italy in the 29-year-old Croatian international full back. 

Trabzonspor were crowned Turkish Super Lig champions for the first time since 1984 last season. 

And manager Abdullah Avc? is looking to bolster his squad as they prepare for a play-off reach the group stage of European football’s premier competition. 

Left back is a problem position with Polish defender Tymoteusz Puchacz returning to Union Berlin after a loan spell last season and Ismail Koybasi failing to impressed after signing last summer. 

That has seen the Turkish side target Barisic, although AC Milan’s Senegal international Fode Ballo-Toure has also been linked. 

Record Sport understands reports in Turkish outlet Fotomac of an official bid for Barisic are premature although it could soon be on its way while an unnamed Serie A side are also keen. 

The Serie A club is likely to remain un-named as Barisic prepares to start his fifth season at Ibrox while trying to earn a place in the Croatian World Cup squad.
