Alexandro Bernabei was sent off during tonight’s Argentinian League match between Lanus and Colon.
The left-back has been strongly linked with Celtic over the last 10 days but tonight’s red card won’t have done his hopes of a transfer to Europe any favours.
While there was some provocation there is no justification for walking towards an opponent and ‘putting the head in’. The incident took place halfway through the second half with the match goal-less.
After being awarded a foul and being pushed Bernabei took the free kick, walked towards his opponent and head-butted him.
Good bit of skill from Bernabei, then a taunt, then a headbutt, exactly what Celtic need ?? pic.twitter.com/VsiptoIzUu

There may have been a variety of background circumstances such as the prospect of a lucrative transfer but that incident is bound to be a consideration for any club considering a transfer bid.
Bernabei was returning to action after missing his side’s last two matches, a lengthy suspension could be on the way after tonight’s incident that saw Lanus reduced to 10 men.

The opponent should have been sent off as well.
That was not a head butt. It was a tap and the opponent made the most of it.
However, the Lanus plater should have restrained himself.
He should have gone down after the other guy gave him a slap in the face … In all seriousness though .. that was not exactly a “glasgow kiss” more a peck on the cheek ..
He does look tiny though …
