Ticket blow announced for Celtic fans

Celtic fans face another ticket scramble for Tynecastle next season with just over 1,400 tickets available.

Last season there were no Celtic fans inside Tynecastle for the opening SPFL match, in January the reduced allocation watched a critical 2-1 win thanks to goals from Giorgos Giakoumakis and Reo Hatate.

Over the last few seasons Celtic’s allocation of tickets for Ibrox, Pittodrie, Saint Mirren and now Tynecastle has been trimmed back leaving the fabled ‘away days’ to become rarer and rarer.

Explaining the release of new Season Tickets, Hearts announced:

Due to demand, Season Tickets will now be available to purchase in the Roseburn Stand when the general sale commences tomorrow.

More than 12,500 Jambos have already secured their seat for the upcoming season during the recent renewal phase and we continue to experience a high demand ahead of the general sale at 9am on Tuesday 21st June.

Due to the limited number of seats remaining in the Main Stand, Wheatfield and Gorgie Stands, we have taken the decision to release Season Tickets in the Roseburn Stand to allow supporters to buy seats together (many of the remaining seats in the other three stands are singles).

The Roseburn Stand Season Ticket would be valid for every home cinch Premiership game, except for Hibs. As per previous seasons, Hibs will be offered the full Roseburn Stand allocation – with Hearts in return granted the full away stand for the corresponding fixture(s) at Easter Road. As such, Roseburn Stand Season Tickets are available at a reduced price, with the absence of Hibs fixture(s) factored into the cost.

Celtic’s first two away matches in the SPFL are at Ross County and Kilmarnock with the Ayrshire side likely to be under pressure from their own fans to restrict Celtic to one stand.

There are no SPFL rules for ticket allocations to away supporters, at the start of last season away fans were excluded from Celtic Park even once the stadium was restored to full capacity.

Celtic’s matches at Tynecastle are almost certain to be shown live by Sky Sports but today’s announcement is another blow for the fans that used to be able to fill the Roseburn Stand twice a season.
