Barry Ferguson loses the plot over Joe Aribo FACTS!

Poor Barry Ferguson is finding Joe Aribo’s transfer to Southampton as bewildering as filling in his Income Tax Return.

The former Ibrox skipper has been reading months of stories about the brilliance of Joe Aribo and the astronomical fee that he will be transferred for. Apparently this is called a Player Trading Model.

Clubs across England were going to get involved in the chase for the midfielder- Steven Gerrard knows all about his ability, Crystal Palace will be a draw for the Londoner, Nottingham Forest have money to burn and newly promoted Fulham are keeping tabs/preparing to launch a bid/set to test ‘Rangers’ resolve.

To the surprise of no one in touch with reality only Southampton have shown an interest in the £6m man. The fee has been out there for a couple of days, no counter bids are being launched with no urgency on Southampton’s part to conclude the move.

Consoling himself in the Daily Record while recalling the comments of former Charlton boss Lee Bowyer, Ferguson explains:

So when he had a go at Aribo for choosing Rangers it was more a matter of him spouting off because he was so disappointed at losing a player of that calibre than it was about being disrespectful to my old club. He was gutted when Aribo moved on and no wonder. He knew fine well Rangers had stolen him for £300,000.

Bow (Charlton boss Lee Bowyer) realised the size of Aribo’s potential and the fact of the matter is, four years on, that potential has been well and truly fulfilled. He will now return south of the border as a £10million Premier League player, a goalscorer in a European final and a poster boy for the Nigerian international team. Not a bad return from a transfer that was supposed to ruin his career.

FACTS! Aribo singed in 2019, three years ago, not four.

FACTS! The fee is £6m not £10m.

FACTS! The poster boy for the Nigerian international team will be watching the World Cup on telly.

Last year Celtic sold Kris Ajer to Brentford for £12m, it might rise to £18m or £20m but it is a £12m transfer

Last year Celtic sold Odsonne Edouard to Crystal Palace for £15m, it could rise to £20m or more but it is a £15m transfer.

Aribo has been sold for half of the Ajer fee which is a decent return on someone that won two out of nine domestic trophies in Scotland. Ajer won seven out of 10 after breaking into the Celtic side.

Aribo is arguably sevco’s best player – so if he stays he won’t be dropped.

It seems that he is paid well below e.g. Morelos,

so, don’t know why he just doesn’t stay another season and leave on a free?

Doesn’t seem to be desperate to get away from Ibrox either?

Better the money goes into his pocket than sevco’s!

If tax cheating Barrie had a brain cell – it would be lonely.

Good picture! But who’s that hangin’ on to Wee Barrie’s shoulder? Don’t think he even notices him: or maybe, he’s just lookin’ the other way?!

  • Edward Murison says:

Never count the money until in bank so far Southampton slow to complete deal so mite not happen if saints dint think he worth 6 million
