Fausto Vera can be crossed off Celtic’s summer transfer list with the midfielder set to move from Argentinos Juniors to Corinthians of Brazil.

Fabrizio Romano revealed details of the move late on Sunday night with the Argentine side bringing in an impressive 8m euros while retaining 30% of the profit on a future sale.

Interestingly Romana claimed that bids came in from three European clubs with Celtic, Genk and one other linked to the midfielder.

Celtic’s interest seemed to be connected with the signing of Alexandro Bernabei however last week’s move for Aaron Mooy appears to have filled up the midfield places in Ange Postecoglou’s squad.

Late on Sunday night Romano tweeted:

Corinthians have full agreement in place to sign Fausto Vera despite three bids from European clubs. It’s now done and completed for €8m fixed fee. Fausto Vera signs until 2026 #Timão Deal will also include 30% sell-on clause to Argentinos Juniors.

That level of fee would have exceeded the sums that Celtic spent during the summer on Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Should Bernabei prove to be a success further moves into the Argentinian market are a strong possibility but with five weeks to go in the transfer window it doesn’t look like there will be any more significant signings at Celtic unless a huge offer comes in and a replacement has to be found.
