There is some confusion tonight over the future of Fausto Vera who Celtic are believed to have an interest in.

That interest seems heavily linked to the signing of Alexandro Bernabei, the first Argentinian player to join Celtic and the requirement to add a defensive midfielder to Ange Postecoglou’s squad.

Getting to the bottom of transfer messages in the UK is tricky enough as clubs create confusion, when a language and continent are added to the mix things can get very difficult to work out.

Tonight the Daily Record reports:

Celtic appear to have been given a major boost in their hopes of landing Fausto Vera as reports claim Corinthians and Genk have had the door slammed in their face. The 22-year-old playmaker has recently emerged as one of the Hoops’ top midfield targets with Vinicius Souza joining Espanyol.

He’s been one of Argentinos Juniors’ top performers in recent seasons but, with 18 months left on his deal, a number of clubs in Europe and South America are hopeful of getting a deal done. Earlier today it appeared Ange Postecoglou ‘s hopes of bringing him in had been dealt a major blow, with Brazilian side Corinthians and Belgium’s Genk both formalising their interest.

However new reports in Brazil suggest all is not as it seems. According to Lance , the bids on the table are in the region of €4m (£3.4m), and have been shown the door by Argentinos.

Earlier today Cesar Luis Merlo tweeted:

Corinthians made a formal offer of 6 million euros for 70% of the economic rights of Fausto Vera. The “Bug” also has a similar proposal from Genk for the central midfielder. Both are analysed by the Argentinos Juniors board.

Whether the fee is 4m or 6m euros it is unlikely that Celtic will be dragged into a bidding war having already committed £6m to Spurs and Benfica to bring in Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota on permanent moves.

Although the transfer window is open for almost seven more weeks it is likely that Ange Postecoglou would prefer to have almost all of his transfer business completed in time for the first SPFL match of the season on July 31.

Celtic have no midweek matches during August but from the start of September through to the World Cup Finals in November the fixtures are constant except for one international break.
