Destination Europe for Celtic transfer target

|

Fausto Vera is reported to have said that he is 50% certain to leave Argentinos Juniors with Europe his preferred destination.

The midfielder has been linked with Celtic but with Aaron Mooy appearing close to joining the chances of signing another midfielder seems to be reducing. Corinthians of Brazil and Genk of Belgium have also been linked with Vera.

Celtic signed Alexandro Bernabei from Lanus last month and now seem to be actively scouting the South American market.

Working with Ange Postecoglou for a Champions League club should be an attractive package but with a raft of agents, options and clauses, transfer dealing in South America can be very complex.

Covering the issue from the Corinthians angle, Brazilian website Lance reports:

In an interview with the Argentine channel Tyc Sports, the player said that his possibility of leaving Bicho Colorado is 50% and that Timão talks with his representative.

Vera made it clear that she wants to make a leap in his career, but he didn’t hide his desire to play in European football.

In addition to Corinthians, Genk, from Belgium, made an investment by Fausto with the financial part equivalent to that presented by the Corinthians. However, according to information obtained by LANCE! Corinthians is ahead of the Belgians because it is aligned with the athlete’s staff, who understand that, for the player, working in a great Brazilian club can be a showcase to migrate to a more prominent scenario in Europe in the future

After the 2-2 draw with Blackburn on Saturday Postecoglou spoke confidently about signing two players within a week.

With less than a fortnight to go until the first SPFL Premiership match the Celtic boss appears keen to complete business with the first Champions League fixtures falling in the first midweek in September.
