Fabrizio Romano and Anthony Joseph were pushed into action last night after Mike McGrath of the Telegraph broke the news that Aaron Mooy was about to join Celtic.Â
The midfielder is a free agent after agreeing his release from Shenghai Port who he joined in August 2020 from Brighton.Â
Romano is reporting a one year contract with the option for another year for the midfielder who turns 32 in September.Â
Mooy hasn’t played club football since January but has been fully involved in Australia’s qualification for the World Cup Finals, playing 90 minutes against the UAE on June 7, a week later he played 90 minutes and extra time as Peru were defeated on penalties to qualify for Qatar in November.Â
Getting fixed up at club level will be important to Mooy but he will be in the spotlight in Australia as part of Ange Postecoglou’s squad.Â
Celtic have no midweek fixtures until September following Wednesday’s game against Legia Warsaw which gives Mooy time to get upto fitness and to fully integrate into Postecoglou’s squad. Â

Celtic are in talks with Australia midfielder Aaron Mooy.
He’s a free agent after leaving Shanghai Port and discussions with the Scottish champions are said to be progressing well.
He’s also held talks with EFL Championship clubs, including Norwich, Middlesbrough & Swansea.

Cm mainly. Very technical, decent dribbling and ball carrying ability as well as a good range of passing, reads the game exceptionally well and has a good finish on him also.

And on the defensive midfield I’m sure he could put in a shift definitely. Would be a natural transition and progression considering his age ?
