Giovanni van Bronckhorst may have to wait four more weeks to complete the signing of Antonio Colak from PAOK.

Despite claims of record turnover and a massive transfer war-chest the Ibrox club have struck a brick wall in trying to bring in new signings.

Colak scored twice at Ibrox in the Champions League qualifiers last season for Malmo but flopped badly when he returned to Greece after his loan spell in Sweden.

Apparently everything has been agreed for the striker to move to Ibrox but until PAOK bring in a replacement they will hold on to the Croatian.

The Daily Record explains:

Meanwhile, Greek sources close to Antonio Colak insist a deal for the PAOK striker is inching nearer. However, the Ibrox club could be forced to wait until just 48 hours before the start of the new season to clinch Colak if PAOK don’t find a replacement before kicking-off their Europa League qualifiers.

The Light Blues have a £1.8million deal for the Croatia international agreed with the Greek Super League outfit and are ready to press the button after being assured Colak is keen on a move to Ibrox. But PAOK won’t authorise his release until they have brought in another frontman to provide cover for first-choice No.9 Nelson Olivieira.

Salonika boss Razvan Lucescu is close to agreeing a swoop for Fortuna Dusseldorf winger Khaled Narey but he is not viewed as someone who can lead his side’s attack. And with Lucescu insisting on having two recognised poachers for the start of his side’s Europa Conference League campaign, Gers may be forced to wait until the eve of their Premiership opener against Livingston on July 30 to clinch Colak’s signature.

PAOK travel to Bulgaria on July 21 to take on Levski Sofia in their first qualifier, with the second leg scheduled a week later.

Adding a few hundred thousand pounds to the offer would normally speed up the process rather than being held hostage to PAOK’s attempts to sign a replacement.

That’s what the SMSM wants you to think. The point is, they don’t have an agreement.

What a crock of shit,if they offered more money instead of penny pinching the deal would already been completed
If that been Celtic the media in Scotland would be crucifying them printing usual negative stories

Aye it would be “The Biscuit Tin Is Back” or some such pish. Nowt said about the filth, who are so skint it’s not so much “Biscuit Tin” as “Crumbs In An Old Empty Packet Of Tesco Value Custard Creams”….

Have less than zero time for the vermin that support Sevco so I find it amusing that these fantasy bids never materialise & the Scum are deflated when nothing ever comes of these mega bids! I hope they all stay & leave on frees with pre contracts signed in January to rub salt into their wounds! Roll on UEFA CL!!
