Ross Doohan has left Celtic to join Tranmere Rovers on a two year contract.

The goalkeeper enjoyed a successful loan spell with the League Two side and will be reunited again with Lee O’Connor whose loan was converted to a permanent deal in January.

Capped by Scotland at all levels upto and including u-21 level Doohan failed to make a competitive appearance for Celtic, finding himself in a similar position to Conor Hazard who was in the right place at the right time during the lockdown season.

Speaking to the Tranmere website the 24-year-old said:

I’m really pleased to get it all sorted now. I really enjoyed it here last season so I feel this is a great step in my career.

I know how the Club works and the stature of it with the training facilities, the stadium and the fan base. Having a great relationship with the Gaffer and with Joe Murphy was another big factor for me.

I didn’t take much convincing at all, as soon as I heard that there was interest I wanted to come back. I can’t wait to get going again.

Doohan enjoyed two seasons of regular first team football at Ayr United with additional loan spells at Ross County and Dundee United

Ange Postecoglou has four goalkeepers to work with in Austria with the arrival of Ben Siegrist likely to allow Tobi Oluwayemi to go out on loan after playing in the Lowland League last season.  Hazard is on loan at HJK Helsinki.
