Davies was close to joining Celtic on a pre-contract agreement in January 2021 but once again Peter Lawwell and Neil Lennon messed things up allowing Liverpool to come in with a £500,000 taking the defender from Preston to Anfield. The 26-year-old hasn’t played a competitive match for Liverpool.
Instead Celtic’s dynamic duo ended up with Jonjoe Kenny in their last ever deal having snapped up Vasilis Barkas, Shane Duffy, Albian Ajeti and Diego Laxalt earlier that season.
Davies made 21 appearances last season on loan at Sheffield United alongside stars like Oli McBurnie, John Fleck and Wes Foderingham. Sheffield United turned down the option to convert the loan into a permanent move.
What happens if Bassey’s value plummets in a year or two? Will Deadco be due for a percentage of the negative appreciation, as a condition of the sell-on clause?
