Celtic have agreed to allow Mikey Johnston to go out on loan with interest in the winger coming from clubs in Scotland, England and on the continent.

The winger has been troubled by injuries over the last two year and fallen down the pecking order with Jota, Liel Abada and Daizen Maeda making strong claims for regular places under Ange Postecoglou.

At the age of 23 Johnston is at a critical time in his career with the need to get 40 matches under his belt essential if he is to build on the potential that earned him his Celtic debut in May 2017 under Brendan Rodgers.

Discussing some of his loan options, The Sun reports:

He is now likely to head out on loan in a bid to get a run of regular games. Belgian side Liege, bossed by ex-Celtic gaffer Ronny Deila, are keen.

But there is also English interest in him, with Championship and League One clubs in contention.

Should Johnston prefer to stay in Scotland, several Premiership sides would be keen. He’s had a tough time with injuries in recent years and is desperate to kick-start his career.

A loan move could suit both parties, with Johnston prepared to move abroad if it’s the right opportunity.

Liam Scales, Adam Montgomery and Ismaila Soro have already gone out on loan from Celtic with the first two looking to prove that they can excel in the SPFL Premiership to boost their Celtic hopes.

Osaze Urhoghide, Liam Shaw and Scott Robertson are also expected to go out on loan as are Ben Wylie and Owen Moffat who are now too old to play for the B team in the Lowland League.
