Derek McGregor has claimed that Ange Postecoglou was given the choice of selecting between Aaron Mooy and Edouard Michut.

Last night a number of reporters tweeted that the Australian midfielder was about to become a Celtic player.

While budgets are flexible it seems strange if Postecoglou had to make a choice between two players, having delivered success and added tens of millions to turnover it would see logical that both players could be signed if that is the managers thinking.

Late on Sunday night Sun reporter McGregor tweeted:

My belief is that Ange Postecoglou had a choice between the potential of £2 million PSG youngster Edouard Michut and the proven pedigree of free agent Aaron Mooy, a player he knows and trusts. He’s gone for Mooy.

McGregor has covered Scottish football for 30 years, last week he was in Austria and Slovenia to cover Celtic’s pre-season build up.

After Saturday’s 2-2 draw at home to Blackburn Rovers Postecoglou spoke about signing two new players this week, it seems like an Australian is looking more likely than the young PSG midfielder.

So far this window Celtic have spent around £18m in transfer fees for Jota, Cameron Carter Vickers, Daezen Maeda and Alexandro Bernabei.

Well there you have it right there. “My belief”. No substanance and probably spent more effort in forcing out last nights curry than he did investigating and writing this story. This hun rag of a paper used to be good for kennelling a fire, but as most of us are now on gas or electric, there’s absolutely no need for it’s publication.

    HAIL HAIL
    KEEP THE FAITH??

Last week Ange said there was no truth to the rumours about the French lad. He was not interested in signing this player. Now the Sun says Celtic have gone for the cheaper option. Nonsense. Ange has gone for a guy he knows and trusts. Celtic supporters have been complaining about the number of prospects rather than experience. Ange appears to be addressing this. It just might work out.

Do you really believe anything from that tory paper just the dregs of a media outlet they write complete lies and tripe just like the rest of that group of companies.

SMSM speculation aside, it would seem that Mooy is a short-term fix?

So, we still need a younger, long-term defensive midfield solution.

Maybe Ange has his eye on someone else entirely from the PSG lad?

Just guessing of course but someone is better than nobody, so hope Mooy settles in quickly and does the business for us.
