Tobi Oluwayemi pulled off an outstanding save in the opening exchanges of Saturday’s Lowland League opener against Cowdenbeath.

The teenage keeper joined Ange Postecoglou’s first team squad for their pre-season trip to Austria and the Czech Republic but didn’t get any playing time.

Working under Stevie Woods and three experienced goalies for 10 solid days will have sharpened up Oluwayemi’s game but there is no training routine’s that can compare with match-day situations which is exactly what the England youth internationalist faced against Cowdenbeath.

Darren O’Dea told the Celtic website:

The save was huge, that’s what he’s there for, he’s very highly rated. He had one big moment and he made the save and it was fantastic and he deserves a lot of credit. Sometimes as a Celtic keeper you don’t have much to do in a game, so he can be happy.

That save kept the match goal-less, in the second half three goals in an 11 minute spell midway through the second half from Matthew Anderson (2) and Bruno Davidson put Celtic in front although the visitors pulled a goal back in the 84th minute.

Tonight Celtic’s B team is in action away to Berwick Rangers, looking to build on Saturday’s victory. </span
