Chris Sutton expects Celtic to hand out a bloody nose or two to their Champions League opponents.

Under Brendan Rodgers it was Celtic that took a few sore ones with a 12-1 aggregate against Paris Saint Germain a grim reminder of the modern realities of European football.

Ange Postecoglou has promised to stick by his attacking plans regardless of who Celtic face with the ultimate test of that philosophy coming up when serial winners Real Madrid to be faced twice over the next 10 weeks.

Celtic Park will again be in the spotlight, looking over Group F for the Daily Mail Sutton summarises with:

Celtic captain Callum McGregor said he’d love to draw champions Real Madrid and he’s got his wish. That’s the glamour tie. It will be interesting to see how Celtic handle the Champions League.

Ange Postecoglou’s side play the Manchester City way – they use inverted full-backs and take the game to other teams – but can they take a different approach?

Whatever happens, they’ll look to leave a few of these opponents with a bloody nose.

All six matches will be played between September 6 and November 2 as Postecoglou takes his side up a level from last season’s Europa League venture which furnished nine points.

That group also consisted a club from Spain and Germany plus one from eastern Europe.

There will be a rise in quality but Celtic appear to be markedly stronger than the side that faced Betis, Leverkusen and Ferencvaros in the early, tentative days of Postecoglou’s Celtic reign.
