John Hartson is expecting Sead Haksabanovic to quickly make his mark at Celtic.

Over the last week the winger has been strongly linked with joining the hoops, on Sunday Ange Postecoglou admittedĀ  that a deal was getting closer.

In the opening four matches the Celtic boss has started with Daizen Maeda and Jota on the wings which has reduced Liel Abada’s playing time. James Forrest has made one substitute appearance with Mikey Johnston still to make a matchday squad.

It is an area of the squad that looks to have a number of options but covering Hartson’s appearance on Go Radio, The Sun reports the Welshman saying:

It’s more quality. And quality is better than quantity. He’s not just somebody to add to the group I think he’ll come in and test the likes of Abada and Forrest on that right-hand side.

He’s a winger that can play across the front so he looks another that Ange can add to his existing quality.

You don’t just want to bring in players that aren’t as good as the ones you’ve got for the sake of having numbers. Ange will bring him in with a view to using him, I’m sure about that

The situation with Rubin Kazan has complicated the transfer of Haksabanovic with the 23-year-old not playing any football since the Nations League matches at the start of June.

Once the deal is completed Celtic will be looking to assess his fitness before the difficult task of getting him match fit.

Haksabanovic should be included in the Montenegro squad for the Nations League qualifiers Bosnia on September 23 and Finland three days later.
