Standard Liege are considering at two other named wingers as well as Mikey Johnston to boost Ronny Deila’s squad.

Ange Postecoglou has stated his preference for the 23-year-old to go out on loan to get game time.

Standard have been linked with Johnston for a couple of weeks but with the season underway in Belgium and Scotland a move doesn’t seem to be any further forward.

Discussing transfer activity at the club respected Belgian site Voetbal Nieuws reports:

Since last week, the people of Liège have a new trump card on the market. After all, Irish Fergal Harkin officially started as the new sporting boss on August 1. And now that he’s in control, the transfer files can accelerate.

Scottish attacker Mikey Johnston (Celtic Glasgow) and English winger Alex Mighten (Nottingham Forrest) are already on the wish list.

But there is also a search for reinforcements in our own country. Nikola Storm, for example, has been in the picture for a while now.

And according to transfer watcher Sacha Tavolieri, the Rouches are also currently negotiating with his agents. However, there would be no question of a concrete offer for the strong holder of KV Mechelen (yet).

Johnston is likely to have other options to go out on loan with the most important criteria being the prospect of regular first team football.

Playing for an attack minded team would suit him better than one that is just looking to dig in and scrape out results.

Celtic seem to have strong contacts in the Belgian game with deals for Boli Bolingoli and Osaze Urhoghide completed already this summer.
