Three matches into the new season and fans across Scotland can already detect a pattern emerging.
Sitting on a nervous 1-0 lead it seems that offside is being switched off at Ibrox as Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side chase the second goal to settle the nerves of James Tavernier.
BBC Scotland are back in the Ibrox media fold, allowed tame and pointless interviews with Giovanni van Bronckhorst and walking on egg-shells to ensure that state of affairs continues.
Michael Stewart was used to maintain the seven year stand off between club and broadcaster with the former Hearts and Manchester United a rare free thinker on the Sportscene sofa full on nodding dogs like Richard Forster and Kenny Miller taking their lead from Steven ‘charisma’ Thompson.
Stewart is well aware of what is being said on social media, he knows the attention that was put on Alfredo Morelos’ goal against Kilmarnock.
Leading St Johnstone 1-0 there was a repeat on Saturday with Antonio Colak offside before he scored the vital second goal. Bearsden PE teacher Nick Walsh was the referee on Saturday.
Stewart was uncomfortable and hesitant, ‘technically yes’ said it all. Rules are rules at every other match in Scotland but the state broadcaster wouldn’t dream of highlighting another honest mistake as they build on the new relationship cherished by Thommo, Kenny Mac, Tom English, Alasdair Lamont and Jane Lewis.
Fortunately, when it comes to administration and liquidation there is no ‘technically’ about it. Much like life, death and taxes. BBC Scotland is fully funded by the TV (BBC) Licence.

Technically ?

Call a spade a spade FFS! Michael losing a lot of credibility toeing a party line. It’s a terrible decision at a key moment in the game! This should be an easy decision for an Assistant given the ball hasn’t travelled any real distance. Heat and concentration maybe playing a part

Nonsense he returns from an offside position. Absolutely nowhere in Law 11 does the direction of the ball being played make up the rule. He is closer to the opponent goal than the 2nd last defender.

Technically rules still don’t apply with the new club that plays out of Ibrox

“A hint”
“He’s technically offside ”
You’re either offside or you’re not and he’s offside— Jon Quixote (@DonQuixote1888) August 14, 2022
If by ‘technically’ you mean a clear yard offside then that is fine Michael..any other definition means you have been told to toe the hun line and you have agreed…poor show mate…you’re better than that.

Two games at home.
Two offside goals.— Paul Cochrane ???????? (@mrdissent) August 14, 2022
“When the ball’s played, he is the other side”
But its ok he was quick as a flash so the offside doesnt count.
Our league desperately needs VAR to stop these ridiculous decisions.— ?ryan1mcq? (@ryan1mcq) August 14, 2022
You’re either offside or you aren’t; being “just” offside or “technically” offside is offside end of.
It’s a bit like being dead; you either are or you aren’t, as sevconts know but pretend otherwise.
VAR = Victory Assured Ranjurs.
Hint, who watches the watchers?
Or as Sally McMoist tended to moan “ Who are these people?”
Not that he was trying to pressurise anyone in any way. We
Souness on Jim White today getting his latest dose of Coaching for Old Pro’s from White.
Don’t know what all the arguing is about he was offside !! There is no technically ifs buts or maybe he was offside
Like I said last week, piling in with the honest mistakes before VAR shows them up for the cheats that they are.
It might be different tomorrow night v PSV…. though the Dallas Cowboy might hand pick a friendly set of officials that might not cope with this fabled Lie-Brox mob…
Just praying that it’s I-broke-s heartache and they’ll be broke financially if PSV can leave at full time with a healthy lead…
