Glen Kamara has admitted that it hasn’t been easy getting dropped at Ibrox.

The bizarre rise to prominence of John Lundstram under Giovanni van Bronckhorst has limited the playing time of the former Dundee midfielder who signed a new contract shortly before Steven Gerrard bolted south to join Aston Villa.

Kamara has only started two SPFL matches this season, including an anonymous 45 minutes showing in the Glasgow derby, with talk of a big money move to Juventus or Arsenal virtually disappearing.

Speculation of a bid from Nice on transfer deadline day carried the stench of moonbeams with the 26-year-old resigned to hanging around under a manager that doesn’t rate him.

The Sun reports Kamara saying:

The head coach decides the team. Whether I’m on the bench or on the pitch, I’ll do my job. I work hard, I just have to keep doing it. That’s the truth.

Sometimes I know why I’m not in the starting line-up. I’ve talked to the manager sometimes after games or before a match.

Of course, it’s difficult to have full confidence when I don’t get to play. I haven’t played in that many games now or started many. It hasn’t been easy. As I said, you have to keep working and then everything will be fine.

Son good news for van Bronckhorst is that John Souttar is expected to start light training in the next 10 days.
