Jota has been hovering around Kris Boyd since the second weekend of the season, his reaction to Scott Allan’s suggestion set him on a path that isn’t casting him in the best of lights.
With a wonder goal in the SPFL opener at home to Aberdeen followed by three assists away to Ross County it was perfectly reasonable to suggest that the former Benfica winger was currently the best player in the country.
Live on Sky Sports Boyd wouldn’t entertain the notion, it seemed a decent point to debate but other than nod to the out of form and out of condition Alfredo Morelos he had nothing to offer. Quickly move on.
The debate moved on, one week to Kilmarnock where Boyd watched another screamer in a 5-0 Celtic win. James McFadden prodded the stick to the anger of his Sky Sports colleague.
SunSport’s Kris Boyd’s has named 6?? Celtic players in his Team of the Week.
Did he miss anyone out? ? pic.twitter.com/EKo6QNXI6k— Scottish Sun Sport (@scotsunsport) September 5, 2022
Saturday’s display in the Glasgow derby seems to have convinced Boyd, along with five of his team-mates Jota is in the Team of the Week, as selected by the columnist from The Sun. Greater prizes are likely as the season progresses.
