Half an hour before the transfer window closed over/slams shut, Celtic have announced the signing of Oliver Abildgaard.

From Ange Postecoglou’s interviews after the 4-1 win over Ross County it seemed obvious that there was another deal on the way.

Abildgaard seemed certain to be the player he had his thoughts on but as time ticked by on deadline day there were concerns that the deal had hit a snag.

Last week Celtic announced the signing of Sead Haksabanovic on a five year contract but tonight his team-mate Abildgaard arrives on loan subject to international clearance.

After a long day waiting for news to be confirmed the Celtic website released the news:

Celtic Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Danish midfielder, Oliver Abildgaard on a season-long deal, subject to international clearance.

The 26-year-old, who has played in the Russian Premier League with Rubin Kazan and with Aalborg in the Danish Superliga, has also been capped by Denmark.

Oliver is our ninth signing of the summer transfer window and everyone at Celtic is delighted to welcome Oliver to the Club.

Often on deadline day a deal will be completed on loan to allow minor issues to be resolved without holding up the move.

Postecoglou will face the media at lunchtime on Friday where he will outline the timescale over when he expects to have his new midfielder ready for action.
