Ange Postecoglou has revealed that Jota will miss tomorrow’s match against Shakhtar Donetsk but will be available for Sunday’s match at Livingston.

The winger was substituted at half-time away to St Johnstone due to fatigue and has missed the last four matches.

Last season’s run of injuries has taught the Celtic boss to be cautious over injuries with Postecoglou resisting the temptation to throw the winger in against the Ukrainian side.

Providing an injury update at today’s media conference, the Daily Record reports:

Jota had his last rehab session and is expected to start training with us again after the game and be available again for the weekend. Dave Turnbull’s alright.

Carl’s back in training which is great but it’s too early tomorrow. The idea is to get him back in training in the next few days and see how it goes.

Postecoglou has been able to use four different wingers since Jota dropped out but there is no doubt that when fit he is Celtic’s first choice winger.

David Turnbull’s return provides Postecoglou with a welcome option, in each of the last three matches the Celtic boss has started with a midfield trio of Aaron Mooy, Reo Hatate and Matt O’Riley.

With Starfelt and Stephen Welsh unavailable Moritz Jenz will continue his partnership with Cameron Carter-Vickers in central defence.
