Ange Postecoglou is unable to put a definite timeline on when Carl Starfelt will be available for selection.

The defender missed the start of the season through injury then picked up a knee injury during the Glasgow derby on September 3.

Five weeks later there is still no sign of Starfelt returning to action even though he is back running in training.

QUESTION: Is there any update on Carl Starfelt, are you hopeful of getting him back soon?

AP: No, its still a couple of weeks mate. He’s out there training, but, yeah, he’s still a couple of weeks. We’re hopeful of before the break (November 12) but the reality is that with so many games you’d have to think about which game you put him in because we don’t have a lot of recovery between games these days. He is out running but it is just a couple of weeks before we can even consider him for selection.

After missing three matches through injury Cameron Carter-Vickers returned for the 2-1 win away to St Johnstone, partnering Stephen Welsh in central defence.

Following the winter break in January, Ange Postecoglou was able to pair Starfelt and Carter-Vickers for every minute of the final 18 SPFL matches that delivered the SPFL title to Celtic.

Stephen Welsh has joined the injured list following a knock in training which leaves Moritz Jenz as the only option to play alongside Carter-Vickers for tomorrow’s match at home to Hibs.
