Celtic took a sore one on Wednesday night, going head to head with RB Leipzig for 50 minutes then shooting themselves in the foot to slump to bottom place in Champions League Group F.
It was a performance of excitement and frustration, heightened to by the injury to Callum McGregor and Joe Hart’s mistake for the second Leipzig goal.
Jenz was in the thick of it, pushing forward to start attacking moves then under the cosh as the Germans swarmed forward looking for the goals to give them their first points of the campaign.
Celtic fas were left with a lot to think about, in less than a week the two teams meet up again with a win giving the hoops a great chance of progress while defeat would redraw ambitions down to dropping into the Europa League.
Ange Postecoglou knows the route that he will take for success on Tuesday with Jenz in full agreement as he told the Daily Record:
We want to play brave football and be exciting. Definitely. It’s the way we want to play. Sometimes things are going to happen in these moments like they did against Leipzig.
But you have to have courage to play these passes in these situations. Unfortunately, there was one like that, but we are going to play like in the next game, then the next game and every game like that until the end of the season. That’s how we play.
You saw in the first half in Leipzig it was very end to end. They had their chances and we had ours. If we maybe had taken one or two of them, then we would maybe have got the leg up in the game and it would have turned out differently. But we have a good chance in the game at home and we have to be brave.
Celtic can get Wednesday night out of their system tomorrow against St Johnstone who will be playing a very different brand of football to Leipzig- and the hoops.
