Barry Ferguson has pleaded for the full on return of ant-football at Ibrox.

After three gutless spankings the gulf between the Europa eague and the Champions League has never been more obvious to even the thickest of bears.

No points, no goals and a huge gulf in ability has been evident in each match with Giovanni van Bronckhorst now on a mission of damage limitation.

Ajax, inspired by Calvin Bassey, lost 6-1 at home to Napoli on Tuesday to give Ferguson hope of snatching third place and a return ticket to the Europa League.

A point in either of their next two matches, Liverool at home and Napoli away, should set up a Europa League play-off on Matchday Six against Ajax with Ferguson looking for a bus parking spectacular to take a point from Jurgen Kllopp’s side.

Under Walter Smith and alongside stars like Lee McCulloch, Kirk Broadfoot and Charlie Adam, Ferguson spoiled his way to a 0-0 draw with Barcelona with the sort of display that had TV viewers across Europe switching off. The Bears loved it.

Recalling a night of football torture, Ferguson told the Daily Record:

The front three were Ronaldinho, Henry and Messi. They were being supplied by Xavi and Iniesta and they came to Ibrox 13 years ago this month expecting to walk all over Rangers.

Ninety minutes later they were heading back to Barcelona with a 0-0 draw, mumbling stuff about anti-football. And you know what? We loved it. Our crowd loved it.

They roared from the rafters at the final whistle because they knew we had given our hearts and souls to get a result against the best team on the planet at the time.

Next Wednesday night, this current Rangers team will have to be every bit as stubborn, determined and, most of all, concentrated if they are to get the same kind of result against Liverpool at Ibrox.

Listen, all you have to do is look at the Champions League table to know this has been a massive step up for a Rangers team that was a penalty kick away from winning the Europa League.

Ferguson had a brief spell installing anti-football at Alloa last season before being mutually consented.

Kris Boyd was an unused substitute in the 0-0 classic against Barcelona.

Walter Smith was a sleekit cuvt and he passed it on to ‘Coishty’, McCulloch, Ferguson et al.
They won games against us (mostly by 1 goal) with anti-football and big punts up the park like a Sunday league club. Not to mention the scum men in black supporting them on and off the pitch.

A horrible club then, a horrible company now with ZERO footballing history prior to 29th July 2012 and basically supported by the “same flies around a new shite” (as coined by someone better than I for that.)

But mibbes Joe, a wee bit less on them please. They make me violently sick just thinking about them and their grovelling sycophants from ex-players to “stenographers” as PMGB correctly calls them. Rant NOT over, yet! 🙂
