Chris Sutton is in tandem with Ange Postecoglou about Celtic’s Champions League experience.

One point from 12, bottom spot and an exit after Matchday 4 make for grim reading but there is more to those four matches than the final scorelines.

Celtic have competed strongly in each match, after every game there has been tales of missed chances and big moments, midway through the first half against RB Leipzig on Wednesday the hoops twice hit the woodwork which has been another recurring feature of their matches.

Only the second half away to RB Leipzig has been a real disappointment with Sutton seeing between the results as he looked at the Champions League campaign to date:

He told the Daily Record:

I’ve never seen Ange Postecoglou look so crestfallen as he did after losing to Leipzig. It was another defeat and we can debate about the way he sends his team out to play in these matches.

I get that and I’ve said previously he should be commended for being positive. But he didn’t come out and say the Champions League was a bonus. He said he wants to compete.

I also agree with him in that I don’t think Celtic are actually too far off from doing so. No one likes losing, but there were ways to lose a football match. It’s no use just saying, ‘oh, they are world class players’.

There will be no world class players in the Hibs side that Celtic face today as they look to bounce back from Europe and maintain their pace-setters role in the SPFL.

The boot will be on the other foot today with the pressure all on Potecoglou’s squad to shrug off recent sluggish form.
