More than 24 hours after the final whistle against Liverpool the Ibrox media department still couldn’t get the message right.

Straight after the match James Tavernier was hiding in a cupboard, allegedly waiting for a dope test while fans on social media called for sackings in every area of the club.

Thursday was full of anger and abuse as loyal bears reacted to the result that sent joy to fans of every other club in Scotland while the BBC tried their best to deflect away from the biggest ever Champions League defeat on Scottish soil.

At the heart of the criticism was the claim that Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side threw in the towel. The evidence of five goals in 21 minutes suggests that they did with Tavpen barely seen as the shots flew past Allan McGregor.

Surrendering is the biggest crime of all to Ibrox fans and one that Tavpen referenced in his his club statement:

I’d never once look at any teammate in my team and say they would chuck in the towel. Liverpool made the three substitutions with Jota, Salah and Thiago, who are world class players and they caught us trying to play football in the wrong areas.

You never want to lose a game, and you certainly never want to lose a game by that margin. We are always trying to do the positive thing and the right thing is to try and play our game the way we can but there is risk to that and they capitalised on it. We will learn from it and it’ll only make us stronger.

I just went to the videos, and honestly thought that it was a fan commenting from home, and NOT ,the cheeky cheery super SALLY.
