Keith Jackson has published a brutal putdown of Ridvan Yilmaz.

The young defender was the star signing at Ibrox during the summer, arriving for £5m from Besiktas as part of the so called Player Trading Model.

To say that Yilmaz is underwhelming is an understatement, such has been his impact at Ibrox that Borna Barisic is being acclaimed as the club’s best defender despite his starring roles in the 4-0, 4-0, 3-0, 7-1 sequence of events that has put Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s job in jeopardy.

Yilmaz was given 12 minutes off the bench in the recent home win against St Mirren but other than that his last action was in the League Cup at home to Queen of the South at the end of August.

While covering Malik Tilman’s goal at Motherwell and repeating a lie about a transfer fee, in the Daily Record Jackson trashes Yilmaz

But the American’s moment of magic does not mask the fact that Joe Aribo’s creative influence has not been adequately replaced since his £10m sale to Southampton in the summer.

And then there’s the £5m fee laid out for a lightweight of a left back who seems destined to be sent back to Turkey on loan the moment the next transfer window opens for business.

Wednesday’s League Cup tiee against Dundee could be an opportunity to play Yilmaz, if he doesn’t play in that match it is unlikely that he’ll be involved in the seven remaining Champions League and SPFL matchees before the winter break.

Ooft! Talk about shooting yourself in the foot ! That opinion piece will cut the daily Record’s massive daily readership in print ,in half ! The quality of those Record typists is appalling! No originality ,no vision ,no creativeness and certainly no individuality ,whatsoever ! If 6 stories were typed unattributed, bythe Record’artillery of sports scoop typists , could you tell who typed which tale ? I could not ! They are all programmed for the exact same incompetency . Boring ,banal and vapid !
