Just about anything that could go wrong did go wrong last night in Leipzig bt one issue will overwhelm the others. Callum McGregor.

Losing three points can be recovered next week, Joe Hart won’t be attempting another rushed pass like he did last night, within a minute of Leipzig having a goal disallowed by VAR.

The first goal for the Germans arrived 16 seconds after a Celtic corner, during that time there could be a very expensive cost incurred.

A heavy touch from McGregor forced him to over-reach to try and deny Leipzig possession, with Celtic exposed at the back he chased back but was unable to prevent the opening goal.

A few minutes later McGregor went down injured, after treatment he returned to play but was forced off before half-time.

It could be a straight forward knock but there was an ominous look to the series of events as the BT Sport commentary team noted.

It doesn’t look good. We were a bit unlucky with their first goal, when Callum had a shot and tweaked his knee. He put in an enormous effort to get back and his toe poke put the guy through. Looking at him, it doesn’t look good but I will wait and see what the doctors says.

Postecoglou is likely to give an update on McGregor and other injuries at tomorrow’s media conference for Saturday’s match against St Johnstone.
