Ten weeks after leaving Celtic Tommy McIntyre has landed a top job as Head of Coaching at the Queens Park Academy.

Since turning professional three years ago The Spiders have been transformed with Owen Coyle now managing the first team and looking well capable of promotion to the SPFL Premiership.

Behind the scenes Lee-Ann Dempster was installed as CEO with a remit to restructure every area of the club with the aim to be self sufficient in terms of producing first team players and selling them on.

Andy Robertson and Lawrence Shankland started their senior careers at Queens Park with Marijn Beuker brought in from AZ Alkmaar as Director of Football Operations.

Explaining McIntyre’s role, Beuker told the Queens Park website:

The last few months we have been busy building the football organisation to make us ready for the future, with a lot of focus on innovative training methods, science, and data-analysis. With the addition of Thomas Ruensink and another coordinator who will be announced soon to lead the youth/pro program, I was looking for an experienced top coach with specific expertise, who understands Scottish Football and can act as a sounding board for all staff. Tommy fits that profile fantastically.

McIntyre joined Celtic in 2009 from the SFA, working in a variety of role, last season he was in charge of the B team in the Lowland League alongside Darren O’Dea but a summer shuffle saw him leave with Stephen McManus taking on his role.

Joe McHugh has edited Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.
