Giovanni van Bronckhorst didn’t fear the sack after losing 7-1 to Liverpool.

Since the start of September the Dutchman has twice watched his side lose 4-0 away from home then get pumped 3-0 and 7-1 at Ibrox.

Credit from reaching the Europa League Final is wearing thin with angry bears still mindful of having a six point lead in the SPFL overturned in the second half of last season.

While a few media types like Kenny Miller and Barry Ferguson want to stand by the manager, for now, opinion across social media is almost unanimous that the Dutchman should be sacked after less than a year in the job.

Reflecting on his own position, van Bronckhorst told The Sun:

It can definitely be a crazy thing when you see the changes of managers.

That’s the position we are in as managers but I never think of moments like that to be fired. I just want to continue my work and put my energy in that.

What I really like is the backing of my directors because I have a feeling we are all in this together. We all work hard to bring success back to this club and that will go with highs and lows.

On Wednesday October 26 van Bronckhorst takes his squad to face Napoli in the Champions League.
