Over the last few years of his career in England Joe Hart listened to plenty of criticism as he slipped from international regular to back-up keeper at Burnley and Spurs.

Since Celtic’s defeat in Leipzig there has been more than a few hoops fans questioning the form of their goalkeeper following the gift that put the German side in the lead. Adding that onto unconvincing displays against St Mirren and Motherwell some folk were piecing together a trend.

Hart retained his place against St Johnstone today although there was the unusual sight of two goalkeepers named among the substitutes. Neither were required.

Cameron Carter-Vickers took the armband but when called upon Hart stood tall, or dived low to touch a shot from Stevie May onto the post.

He couldn’t be faulted when St Johnstone equalised, 70 seconds later he celebrated as much as anyone as Giorgos Giakoumakis turned one point into three. Next stop and it is a re-match with RB Leipzig.
