Two months into his loan move to Vitoria Guimaraes things seem to be finally working out for Mikey Johnston.

Rather than medical bulletins it seems to be progress reports as he thrives in the Portuguese game, his first experience away from Celtic.

Two seasons of injury issues are getting pushed into the background with a Man of the Match award to show for his performance in the 3-2 home win over Boavista.

After scoring twice in the Portuguese Cup win away to Canlas 2010 the on-loan Celtic winger made his first start against Boavista, helping his side to score twice in the last 10 minutes to claim full points.

That win lifts Guimaraes into sixth place, on Monday they are at home to Familicao before Johnston gets the chance to test himself in the Estádio José Alvalade against Sporting Club.

Johnston is under contract with Celtic until May 2026.
